Just weeks ago the lead actress in the Evil Dead remake, Lily Collins, dropped out of the film due to scheduling conflicts. Now, Suburgatory actress, Jane Levy, has stepped in to take her place.
According to Deadline, the feisty redhead has just landed the lead role of Mia, the new “Ash” in the horror remake. Mia’s drug addiction in the film is what leads her and her friends to the infamous cabin in the woods where the group stumble upon the Necronomicon.
Red Riding Hood actor, Shiloh Fernandez, signed on to play the role of Mia’s brother, David. Audiences can expect to see the Evil Dead remake April 12, 2013.
Although I am firmly against this remake and it’s horrible storyline, I am a huge fan of Jane Levy from watching her on the hilarious ABC comedy, Surburgatory, and her brief stint on Showtime’s Shameless. She is indeed a very good actress and I do believe that she can pull off the role well, so there’s a little hope I guess. However, I think that these actors are too pretty–especially Fernandez. I just can’t see him in the role of a brother who is able to stand up against a bunch of demons.
I’m still waiting to hear news of Bruce Campbell’s role in the film even though I’m sure that information will be kept top secret. I just really, really hope that director Fede Alvarez doesn’t screw this up.
